The league had initially suspended the players indefinitely pending the results of the investigation, which was also being carried out by Edmonton Police.
The police recently announced that the incident was not criminal in nature and would not be pursued further. Despite this, the WHL has decided to impose its own punishment and has required all parties involved to take part in off-ice "Personal Conduct and Respect Training".
The league has also refused to release any details about the incident, but they did release this statement:
