It has recently been reported that Oilers Insider Bob Stauffer believes that the Edmonton Oilers are still on the hunt for a right handed shot D-man.
With that being said, the ideal candidate would be a right hand shot who will play alongside Darnell Nurse. The Oilers have a safety net regarding Ty Emberson, but no one truly knows how he'll pan out.
Stan Bowman will be looking to make one more final decisive blow before opening puck drop in October, and Rasmus Andersson has emerged as the prime trade target. According to Finn Marceau from the Hockey News, Rasmus is the perfect fit.

As a mid-sized puck mover with a notable mean streak, the best version of Andersson would be huge on the Oilers' second pair, especially with a similar player like Nurse. But if last year's numbers were the sign of a decline and not just playing on a bad team, a Nurse-Andersson pairing could quickly become a disastrous combination of turnovers and bad penalties.
With two years left at a $4.55 million cap hit, Andersson provides good value, but would take a lot of creativity to fit under the salary cap. Considering the difficulty of trading with a rival like Calgary and the risk that Nurse and Andersson could exacerbate each other's issues, he's likely a poor fit in Edmonton.
Take make matters even sweeter, the Oilers would be snatching arguably the best blue liner on their rival Flames team. Although no deal has come to fruition yet, Oilers fans will be keeping a close eye on Rasmus Andersson for the next few weeks to see if Bowman can work his magic.
