According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Ceci will be paired with 26 year old Mario Ferraro on the first pairing. It's not entirely surprising considering that the Sharks are a rebuilding team, but playing Cody Ceci on the first pairing may be a little tough. Ceci often made obvious positional mistakes in the defensive zone and frequently turned the puck over with poor passes and wildly inaccurate shots.
This comes as no real shocker as the San Jose are a bottom feeder team currently undergoing a major rebuild. They are lacking talent up and down their lineup, but Cody Ceci has emerged as one of the more formidable d-men on the team
The Oilers unfortunately hard to part ways with Ceci over the NHL offseason in a swap that sent young Ty Emberson to the Oilers.
According to Bob Stauffer, Emberson is a "lock" to make the team and will be heavily relied on. This has raised some concerns in Oil country as Emberson only has roughly 30 NHL games under his belt and might be too green to fill Ceci's shoes.
Regardless, the Sharks will be looking at Ceci to eat up top 4 minutes this upcoming season.
