According to Daniel Nugent-Bowman from the Athletic, McDavid tied and passed The Great One as part of a three-assist, four-point effort in Game 4 - an 8-1 Oilers win to keep their season alive. Gretzky had 31 helpers in 1988, the last of his four Stanley Cup titles in Edmonton.
McDavid will have his eyes set on breaking through 1000 career points, and fans can anticipate this impressive milestone being reached within the first 10 games of the regular season.
