When the Oilers hired Stan Bowman as their GM, it caused quite a bit of buzz on social media due to his controversial past. Despite the scrutiny, Bowman has exemplified masterclass management by bringing high end talent to Oil Country.
Recently, the boys over at the Hockey News having been calling the Ty Emberson signing a "slam dunk". Here's why:
Emberson brings a lot of different attributes to the table. The 6-foot-2 and 193 lbs right-handed defender is only 24-years-old. But there are three big reasons for Oilers fans to be excited about this deal.
With Emberson coming into the fold, there is no reason for concern. Last year with the Sharks he was credited with 94 hits. He only played 30 games in 2023-24. He was ranked sixth on the team in hits behind Fabian Zetterlund, Mario Ferraro, Nikita Okhotiuk, Luke Kunin and Kyle Burroughs.
I think its pretty safe to say that the Oilers scored a great addition in Ty Emberson. With the departure of Ceci and Vinny Desharnais, Emberson is poised for some big minutes in the Oilers top 4 defensive core.
