Klim Kostin Gets Hit in The Family Jewels: Multi-Game Suspension?
In this ongoing series, the Oilers and the Golden Knights have clearly demonstrated their mutual animosity, to put it mildly, leaving NHL fans with no doubt about their dislike for one another. Throughout the series, both teams have consistently displayed a high level of physicality and occasional instances of outright hostility, as the competition intensifies and the desire to secure victory grows stronger.
Regrettably, some plays have crossed the line into dirty and brutal territory, as exemplified by an incident involving Golden Knights forward Shay Theodore, who resorted to spearing Klim Kostin right in a sensitive area.Such actions are not only unsportsmanlike but also unnecessary and have no place in the game. It remains to be seen whether the NHL Player Safety department will take a serious look at this incident and impose more than just a fine on Theodore.
Interestingly, a similar incident occurred earlier this year between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. In that instance, Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo targeted Corey Perry with a spear to the same sensitive area.
DeAngelo received a two-game suspension for his actions, which leads to the expectation that Theodore should face at least a one-game suspension for his similar transgression.
