The opening game of the second round series between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights took a turn for the worse when Mattias Janmark suffered a heavy fall into the boards at high speed at 16:40 of the first period. A tweet from Zach Laing's Twitter account shows the moment of the injury.

Janmark played a key role on the Oilers' third line alongside Warren Foegele and Ryan McLeod, making his injury a significant blow to the team. In addition, head coach Jay Woodcroft revealed in a post-game interview that Derek Ryan was absent due to illness, leaving the team with only 10 forwards. Woodcroft stated that an update on Janmark's condition would be provided the following day, as seen in a tweet from DNB Sports' Twitter account.

Despite a four-goal performance from Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers were unable to secure a victory and lost the game 6-4, giving the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead in the series. The Oilers will have a chance to bounce back in Game 2 on Saturday, May 6th at 7:00 PM Eastern.
