The NHL trade deadline saw several major trades, and one of them involved the Edmonton Oilers trading Jesse Puljujarvi to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Patrik Puistola, a forward currently playing in Europe. Puistola is not yet eligible to play in the NHL, but the Oilers were willing to make the trade to free up over $3 million in cap space and address their defensive core.
After being traded, Puljujarvi faced immigration issues that prevented him from entering the United States. He stayed in Canada and was allowed to practice with the Oilers in Edmonton. Now, he will make his debut with the Hurricanes against the Montreal Canadiens in Canada.
