Edmonton Mayor Speaks Up About The Oilers Getting Screwed in Flames' New Arena Deal

The announcement of a major arena project and land deal by the Calgary Flames and the city of Calgary has caused some fallout across the province of Alberta. The project, which is expected to cost over a billion dollars with hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funds, has left the city of Edmonton feeling slighted. This is because no taxpayer dollars were used to build Roger's Place a few years ago.

Mayor Amarjeet Sohi has expressed his thoughts on the Calgary deal and what he plans to do to help Edmonton secure some funds to balance things out. He hopes to speak with the new premier after the election to seek $180 million in upgrades to the Commonwealth Stadium and other cultural centers in Edmonton that require improvements.

While Sohi is happy for the city of Calgary for receiving government funds, he wants to make it his goal to help Edmonton obtain more funds to improve the quality of life and ensure the city receives its fair share. Check out this Instagram post to learn more:
