Edmonton Oilers Fans Are Feeling Old as an Oilers Birthday Arrives

Last night, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins hit a major career milestone, playing his 800th NHL game. Despite being in the prime of his career, this achievement is a testament to his longevity in the league. However, what's even more shocking is the fact that Nugent-Hopkins was drafted 1st overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and has already turned 30 years old as of April 12th. Edmonton Oilers' play-by-play announcer, Jack Michaels, couldn't help but express his existential terror on Twitter. Michaels has been with the team since 2010 and became lead announcer for Sportsnet in 2021.

Despite making some feel old, Nugent-Hopkins continues to be a solid contributor to the Oilers, with 233 goals and 398 assists for 631 points in his career so far. Happy Birthday, Ryan!
