Under the leadership of Rod Brind'Amour, the Carolina Hurricanes have gone from being labeled as "losers and jerks" to yearly contenders. The former Edmonton Oilers prospect, Skyler Brind'Amour, may be joining his father's team soon.
Drafted in the 6th round of the 2017 NHL draft, 177th overall by the Edmonton Oilers, Skyler has been playing in Quinnipiac's hockey program. However, he decided not to sign with Ken Holland and will become a free agent on August 15th.
Skyler's decision not to sign with the Oilers stems from the team's depth and contending status, making it harder for him to make the lineup. Despite the Oilers losing another prospect, it may be a minor setback if they win a cup with their current core.
