Athletes often recall their childhood idols or favorite players who inspired them to pursue their careers. Golf star Rory McIlroy, for instance, admires Tiger Woods and used to watch him play all the time. He credits Woods as one of the reasons he became one of the world's best golfers.

In hockey, a young Connor McDavid idolized Sidney Crosby and even did a presentation about him in school. McDavid's teacher encouraged him to speak up and share his thoughts during class, believing it would help him with future interviews as a superstar player.

In the report McDavid prepared for his class, he depicted Crosby wearing a crown and running for president, bringing a smile to his teacher's face and leaving a lasting impression on her.

Fast-forward to 2023, and 26-year-old McDavid has become a phenomenal player, surpassing the 150-point mark in a season, a feat not accomplished since the early 1990s. He has played 80 games, scoring an astonishing 64 goals and recording 87 assists for a total of 151 points. McDavid has also contributed 21 power-play goals and 69 power-play points while maintaining a +22 score.


These remarkable achievements will undoubtedly be cherished by hockey fans for many years to come.
