During last year's off-season, Ottawa Senators General Manager Pierre Dorion saw potential in Cam Talbot and reached out to him. Talbot's impressive record with the Minnesota Wild proved him to be a difference-maker, with 81 games played, a record of 51-20-9, and an average of 2.65 and an SV% of .915.
However, this season, Talbot's numbers are vastly different, prompting Dorion to announce that Talbot will not be re-signed during the off-season. The Senators' leaky defense did not bode well for Talbot's performance, and he also suffered a couple of injuries throughout the season.
It remains to be seen if any NHL team will take a chance on Talbot to see if he can rebuild his numbers. Talbot, who held a $3.66 million cap hit, will likely not be paid that much next year. See more:
