The 2022-2023 NHL season marks a shift in star power from the Western Conference to the Eastern Conference, as many western teams have decided to rebuild by shedding contracts and bankrolling trades for other teams.

The St. Louis Blues are one such team, having collected draft picks and prospects since winning the Stanley Cup in 2018-19.

General manager Doug Armstrong has indicated that this season will be a rebuilding phase for the team, and defenseman Colton Parayko is one player whose name continues to pop up in trade rumors. Parayko, a right-shot defenseman with an impressive size of 6'6" and 230 pounds, has a large contract extension and may be an attractive addition to the Edmonton Oilers.

Although the Oilers would need to rearrange some money to make this trade work, Parayko's pedigree and Alberta roots make him a potential building block for the team. As of March 4th, the Oilers are on the road and set to play the Los Angeles Kings at 10:30 PM Eastern.
